Incident: Sunday 23rd – Tuesday 25th August 2026
The team was initially asked by Staffordshire Search and Rescue Team to assist with a search for a vulnerable missing person on Cannock Chase.
The search continued over several days, with Derby Mountain Rescue Team personnel supporting the operation alongside Staffordshire Search and Rescue Team and other search resources.
Staffordshire Search and Rescue Team coordinated the operation on Sunday, with a Derby MRT controller subsequently taking over as Incident Commander for the search on Monday and Tuesday.
Sadly, the missing person was found deceased by members of the pubic. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
