The Matlock Skyline Challenge returned for its second year in 2025, and what a day it was! This tough 22-mile route with over 3,300 feet of ascent certainly lived up to its name, but spirits remained high despite a damp start.
Out of 254 entrants, 210 runners set off, and 199 successfully crossed the finish line, tackling the varied terrain in times ranging from an impressive 3 hours 28 minutes to 10 hours 16 minutes. Thanks to everyone's generosity and participation, the event raised over £7,000 to support the vital work of Derby Mountain Rescue Team.
None of this would have been possible without the dedication of the 40+ team members and supporters who volunteered their time as marshals, checkpoint crews, and logistics helpers. The encouragement out on the route, and the friendly welcome at the finish line, did not go unnoticed!
