Earlier this week, members of our drone section were invited to attend the Aviation Careers Festival at East Midlands Aeropark. The event brought together a wide range of organisations from across the aviation sector, all with a shared goal of inspiring young people to explore future careers within the industry.
With over 500 students attending throughout the day, the atmosphere was busy and engaging. The festival formed part of a wider effort to showcase the breadth of opportunities available in aviation, from traditional roles through to emerging technologies and specialist fields.
For our team, it was a great opportunity to speak directly with students who are beginning to think about their future career paths. Many were particularly interested in how drone technology is being used in real-world environments, and it was encouraging to see such curiosity around both the technical and operational aspects of what we do.
Engaging with Students and Industry
Events like this are designed to give young people meaningful exposure to the aviation sector, helping them understand not just the roles available, but also the skills and pathways required to get there.
Throughout the day, we had a number of conversations covering everything from drone capabilities and training requirements to wider discussions about careers in aviation and the increasing role of technology within the industry.
Alongside engaging with students, the event also provided valuable opportunities to connect with other organisations. It was particularly interesting to exchange ideas with professionals from different areas of aviation, all working towards similar goals of education, safety, and innovation.
Demonstrating Our Drone Simulator
A highlight of the day was the chance to demonstrate our drone simulator to the National Police Air Service. This sparked some insightful discussions around training, simulation, and how technology can be used to safely develop skills before moving into live operational environments.
Simulation tools are becoming an increasingly important part of training across aviation, helping to build confidence and capability in a controlled setting while supporting ongoing professional development.
Looking Ahead
The Aviation Careers Festival is part of a broader effort to inspire young people and promote STEM-related opportunities within aviation. Initiatives like this play an important role in helping students understand the variety of career paths available and the real-world applications of what they learn in education.
It was a privilege to be involved, to represent our work, and to contribute to an event that is helping to shape the next generation of aviation professionals.
A big thank you to the organisers for hosting such a well-run and impactful event. We look forward to supporting similar opportunities in the future.
