Incident: Saturday 11th – Monday 13th July 2026
Update: This article is an operational update to the original deployment, first reported in 2026-48: Tintwistle Moorland Fires.
The team's drone section returned to support Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service on Saturday following further reignitions of the ongoing moorland fire near Tintwistle.
Over the course of Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the team has continued to provide live aerial intelligence and thermal imaging to incident commanders, helping assess fire behaviour, identify hotspots and support the deployment of resources across the incident ground.
Derby Mountain Rescue Team remains at the forefront of using drone technology to support multi-agency incidents. By streaming live aerial imagery directly into the command vehicle, incident commanders are able to build an accurate picture of the incident as it develops, enabling informed operational decision-making throughout the response.
The fire has continued to reignite in challenging conditions, requiring Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service and partner agencies to return to the incident repeatedly over several days.
We'd like to thank Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service and all partner agencies who continue to work in extremely challenging conditions to bring the incident to a close.
