The team was called to assist Staffordshire Lowland Search and Rescue following reports of a mountain biker who had come off his bike and collided with a tree near Oakamoor.
As several Derby Mountain Rescue Team members live close to the area, assistance was requested to support the response alongside West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service.
The casualty was assessed and treated on scene by West Midlands Ambulance Service, with assistance from Derby Mountain Rescue Team members. Due to the nature of the incident, the casualty was managed as having suspected spinal injuries.
Using the team stretcher, the casualty was lowered to the main road, where he was handed over to ambulance crews and transported to hospital for further assessment and treatment.
