2026-34: Snake Summit – Wildfire support

The team was requested to assist Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service with a significant wildfire at Snake Pass, near Glossop. (Yesterday, Thursday 30th April 2026)

A drone team deployed overnight and throughout the following day, providing thermal imaging and aerial situational awareness to fire crews working to contain the blaze. The fire affected a large area of moorland and involved a substantial multi-agency response, including fire services from across the region, Derbyshire Police, the Peak District Fire Operations Group, landowners, and local gamekeepers.

Drone support played an important role in identifying hotspots and helping to guide firefighting efforts, particularly in challenging terrain and conditions. The fire was brought under control later in the day, with crews continuing to monitor the area and return the following morning.

Members of the public were advised to avoid the area during the incident, with road closures in place and poor visibility caused by smoke.
