Just before 23:00 yesterday (Wednesday 22 April) the team received a request from Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service for drone support at a wildfire near Woodhead Reservoir.
A drone team deployed with thermal imaging capability, providing valuable situational awareness to fire crews on the ground. Based on this information, a decision was made to stand fire crews down until first light.
The team remained on scene overnight and carried out a further drone flight at first light, confirming that the fire was largely extinguished, with only a small area still smouldering. It was agreed with the local gamekeeper that this remaining area would be monitored, and the team stood down at 08:30.
