At 9pm. on Wednesday 8th April, 2026, the team received a request from Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service for drone support the following morning at Glossop Fire Station, following reports of a possible fire on Black Hill.
A small drone team deployed, with thermal imaging capability requested to help identify potential hotspots beneath the ground.
The team later relocated to Holme Moss; however, conditions on the hill were poor, with thick fog and low cloud resulting in visibility unsuitable for drone operations. Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service also assessed that a physical inspection would not be possible.
All resources were subsequently stood down.
