Our second job for Wednesday 8th April 2026. A 16-year-old male had been cycling along the Manifold Trail before leaving the path and attempting to climb towards Thor’s Cave. He ascended approximately 60 metres on steep, loose and broken ground before losing his balance and tumbling back down the slope.
Despite managing to reach the bottom, he sustained multiple injuries including significant grazing and was in considerable pain, having also lost personal items during the fall.
As the team were still committed to incident 2026-21, Buxton Mountain Rescue Team were requested to attend Thor’s Cave.
East Midlands Ambulance Service treated the casualty and assisted him out of the riverbed, up the steep bank, before transferring him onto a stretcher and into a waiting ambulance.
Both Buxton and Derby Mountain Rescue Teams were subsequently stood down.
