On the afternoon of 21 February, the team was called to assist a 75-year-old man who had injured his ankle while walking at Dovedale. The casualty was part of a group of 14 walkers when he heard a “snap” in his ankle. Despite the injury, the group carefully continued and were able to support and carry him as far as the bench at Lover’s Leap, where they awaited assistance.

Team members assessed the injury, provided pain relief and immobilisation, and then transferred him by stretcher across the river to the Dovedale Car Park where he was handed over to the Ambulance Service for transport to the Royal Derby Hospital.
