Body found in search for missing 64-year-old man

Derby Mountain Rescue Team were put on standby just before midnight on Thursday 20th June and called out just after 1 am on Friday 21st June 2019.

The team were called by Derbyshire Police to assist in the search for a Sixty-Four-Year-Old male who had been reported missing and was last seen on Sunday, June 16th in Matlock, we were joined by two Mountain Rescue Search Dogs. We were tasked with several areas to search, these were cleared and the male was not located within them.

The team were stood down while the police continue their enquiries.

--UPDATE-- Sat 22 June 2019

Derby Mountain Rescue Team were called back for a continuation of the search in new areas this morning (Sat 22), we were joined by Edale Mountain Rescue Team and Buxton Mountain Rescue Team's 'Drone Team', and Mountain Rescue Search dogs.

Sadly the body of a man matching the description of the missing person was found in the new search areas. Derbyshire police said "A body, believed to be that of missing Youlgrave man Robert Graham Moore, known as Graham, was discovered this morning by Mountain Rescue search teams.

The body was found in a wooded area nearby to the Chatsworth Estate, Bakewell.

Mr Moore was last seen at 1.30pm on Sunday, June 16 at Sainsbury’s in Matlock.

Formal identification is yet to take place but Mr Moore’s family have been informed. Our thoughts are with them at this sad time.

Officers do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a file is being prepared for the coroner."
