Despite the wetter than average weather we’ve experienced since breaking ground on 12th February, our site in Mackworth has been transformed, and work has progressed well, and on time.

Our Ground Worker started by stripping off the access track and some of the car parking area, and getting down to the final required levels. The access track was then stoned up to provide a sound base layer for deliveries and plant machinery, and to avoid mud being transferred to the A52 from vehicle tyres.

The foundations were dug out and filled with concrete, and formwork was then placed around the perimeter of the foundation area to enable a second concrete pour. This concrete ‘ringbeam’ will eventually have our prefabricated steel building bolted to it.

Insulation, damp proof membranes, and steel reinforcement was then installed to the floor area, and a third concrete pour was completed, which has cured to form our floor slab and was power floated to give a nice smooth finish.

Alongside the work on the foundations and floor slab, all the below ground drainage has been installed, along with provisions for services connections, and more areas have been stoned up, ready to receive the cranes that will install the building.

The Saredon Steel Building is on order and is in the process of being fabricated with an installation date of 17th June. Installation of the building will take roughly 2 weeks, and our ground worker will then return to site to install the final driveway and carpark finished surface which will be a plastic permeable paver filled with gravel. This final surface will allow rainwater to permeate through and naturally drain away.

The next phase is the internal fit-out, and we’re currently pricing up various work packages for this phase, including the internal block work and super-stud walls, mezzanine floors, steel steps, handrails, dry lining, electrics, heating, plumbing, bathrooms, kitchen, floor coverings, etc.

Thanks to all for all the support and offers of assistance so far, and a huge thank you to all the team members, supporters, and local businesses who have been directly involved with the project to date.
