Derby Mountain Rescue Team has become one of the few Mountain Rescue teams in the country to be awarded our "Permission for Commercial Operations" by the CAA, allowing us to deploy drones as part of our operational capability.
For the past couple of years, our drone operations have been carried out by one of our voluntary team members who is also a commercially licensed drone pilot.
Having the new team permission will allow us to expand our drone operations as we train more pilots to a CAA approved standard, and ultimately help us to serve the community better.
