A busy Saturday ahead of the May bank holiday

Saturday was a busy day for the team with three callouts in five hours.

Callout 31: Saturday 27th May 2023, 12:53pm - Rowtor Rocks, Birchover

The team were called out by East Midlands Ambulance Service to reports of a female who had fallen approximately fifteen metres sustaining a head injury. The lady was treated on scene by Helimed54 (DLRAA) assisted by the team and carried to the aircraft. She was flown to hospital for further treatment.

Callout 32: Saturday 27th May 2023, 13:39pn - Dovedale Wood, Dovedale

While Callout 31 was underway, we were called to Dovedale after a 47-year-old female had fallen around 5 metres and had injured her ankle, with a suspected fracture/dislocation. She was treated on scene by the team and a Community First Responder. She was taken to hospital for further treatment and has since confirmed it was a fracture/dislocation, she is now awaiting an operation.

Special thanks to The Old Dog for a round of soft drinks on the house! and to the farmer who initially helped the casualty and provided access and directions.

Callout 33: Saturday 27th May 2023,  17:40pm - The Nabs, Nabs Dale.

Just as team members were finishing re-packing the vehicles from callouts 31 & 32 we were called to a crag-fast female at The Nabs. The team were deployed and located the lady on a very steep scree slope, she had slid some way coming to rest against a tree and was unable to move back up the scree or further down safely. The team deployed some protective rope systems, and lowered the lady down to the main path. She was driven back to her vehicle, with only minor injuries.

As always, the vehicles were returned to base and repacked ready for our next deployment...
