On Wednesday evening, Wirksworth Running Club held their annual Tunnels and Trails charity race, this year in aid of the team. The race is a 10km run along the High Peak Trail, starting and ending at Middleton Top visitors centre.
The event also includes a 2.5km Fun Run for younger runners and those not quite up to the main event. Participating in the fun run this time round was a team from Derby MRT who ran with a stretcher, complete with young "casualty".
As a compromise due to the high temperature on the evening, the team didn't run in compete hill gear, as originally intended and the stretcher wheel was also utilised. After the race, the team provided short stretchers runs for many of the other eager young runners.
