5 May 2009 : Dovedale Rescue
The team were holding a promotional and fund raising day at Dovedale on Sunday (3rd May) when they were called to the aid of a walker nearby, who had fallen whilst descending a steep path above Lovers Leap.
Eleven team members rushed to the scene, including a team doctor and paramedic. The 37yo woman had sustained injuries to her arm, including a suspected dislocated elbow. She was treated on scene by the team medics and evacuated down the steep slope using one of the team’s specialised stretchers. She was carried to the Dovedale car park using the team land rover, where she was handed over to a waiting ambulance to be taken to hospital for further treatment.
A team spokesman said. “Although it was an unfortunate accident, in some respects the woman was lucky in that the team were within running distance and able to treat her so quickly”.
During the day, the team raised over £600 in donations from generous members of the public who visited the team’s vehicles and displays.
