23 Aug 2008 : Charity skittles match
Duffield pub raises £283 for Derby Mountain Rescue
A charity skittles match was held at the Patten Makers Arms in Duffield to raise funds for Derby Mountain Rescue Team. Teams made up of mountain rescue members and the pub’s own skittles team played each other in a close fought but light hearted match that raised £283 for the rescue team through a combination of fines for missed balls, a raffle and contributions raised in recent months through the pub’s Sunday night quiz. Raffle prizes were generously donated by pub regulars who all joined in the fund raising efforts on the night.
The money will be used to buy 2 Kendrick splints for use by the team. These portable devices are used to place a casualty's leg in traction after suffering a major injury to the thigh bone. They are light enough to be carried in the medical packs that are taken onto the hill, allowing team medics to treat such serious injuries in the remotest and most inaccessible of locations.

The two teams and Clare Muldoon, landlady of the Patten Makers Arms, presenting the money to Nic Berry, chairman of Derby Mountain Rescue Team.
