Mountain and Cave Rescue Awareness Day

Today is Mountain and Cave Rescue Awareness Day. You may be surprised at some of the things we get up to, here's a short list of some of the key areas: Upland, urban and water searches for missing, lost or despondent persons; emergency pre-hospital care in remote areas working in partnership with the Police, Ambulance service, Air Ambulance charities, the Coastguard, and Lowland Search and Rescue; Scene of crime preservation; Casualty evacuation; Fundraising; Talks and visits; and much more! All of which requires a program of training in Advanced First Aid, Navigation, Driving, Ropework, Search techniques, Team and Police radio skills, Helicopter safety... the list goes on.

As with all of Mountain Rescue England and Wales our members are all volunteers, giving up their time for training and callouts. The team would like to take this opportunity to thank our family, friends and employers that support us and make it possible for us to attend call outs any hour of any day, all year round.
