On Easter Sunday, the team were called to Masson Mills near Matlock Bath, where a 79 year old woman had slipped and injured her ankle in woodland overlooking the retail centre.
The woman had been walking on a muddy path high in the surrounding hills when she slipped and twisted her ankle. She had been with her husband, daughter and granddaughter, but at the time of the accident, was walking on her own.
Luckily, some passing walkers came across the injured woman and raised the alarm.
Due to the nature of the terrain and the steepness of the path, mountain rescue were initially called to deal with the incident. The woman was treated on scene by mountain rescue personnel before being evacuated by stretcher down the narrow slippery path to the main road, where she was handed over to a road ambulance. She was then taken to the Royal Derby Hospital for further treatment.
