Team members were taking part in the Duffield Carnival on Saturday (June 23rd), when they were called out, just as the main carnival prossession was arriving. Leicesitershire police had called on the team to search for a missing 30 year old man in woodland near Hinckley in Leicestershire.
The missing man had last been seen in a bar in Hinckley at around 2am in the early hours of Friday morning and police had become increasingly concerned for his safety. Police had reason to believe that the man might have been in the area of Burbage Common and Woods and decided to call on the team's specialist capabilities of searching such rural and woodland terrain. Two SARDA mountain rescue search dogs joined the team to search the region in a nine hour operation, but the missing man was not located within the area.
Police are continuing their enquiries and friends and family of the missing man have launched their own search appeal through social media sites Facebook and Twitter.
