A parachutist from the Roayl Artillery's Black Nights Parachute Display Team was injured during a display at the Duffield Carnival when he landed very heavily. Team members had been attending the event with one of the team vehicles and treated the injured man, splinting a suspected lower leg and ankle fracture and encasing him in a vacuum mattress due to the possibility of a spinal injury. He was transported by EMAS ambulance to Derby City hospital where he was diagnossed as having a fractured fibula.
