CALLOUT: The team were called out at 12:30 today to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service(EMAS) with a 72 year old male with a back injury at Thorpe Cloud. The man had been out walking with his family when one of the group's dogs jumped up at him knocking him to the floor and aggravating a previously slipped disc in his lower back, leaving him unable to move and in agony. Community first responders from East Midlands and West Midlands ambulance service were on scene. The man was assessed by one of our Advanced First Aiders and given pain relief. He was carefully moved to our Mountain Rescue stretcher and carried across fields to an EMAS land ambulance. The man was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital for further treatment.
