A small number of the team were activated late yesterday evening to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service after a 12 year old boy from London had dislocated his knee playing football (having been "tackled by a tree"). The group had called for an ambulance, but due to the prioritisation and volume of calls it was likely to be a long wait for an ambulance. Given the time and the remoteness of the location, a member of the team who was already on the scene offered our services.

Three team members attended, providing assessment and pain relief. The boy was transported in one of our Land Rovers to the Royal Derby Hospital, where we gave a handover to the on-call staff in the Emergency Department. His family joined him. We returned to base, and the equipment was repacked and made ready for our next callout. #SoMuchMoreThanMountains #Volunteers
