Hilton

Volunteers from the team and Watersafe UK were called by Derbyshire Police to search woodland and waterways around the Hilton area for a missing 48 year old man.

Twenty five mountain rescuers took part in the search and due to the number of water courses in the vicinity, Watersafe UK, a voluntary search and rescue team specialising in water based operations, were also called, with eight members taking part in the operation.

The man, who lived locally, had been missing since the previous day and police had become concerned for his safety, calling in the specialist volunteers at around 10:30am.  At around 4pm, a body matching the description of the missing person was found by Watersafe personnel searching the perimeter of a lake in nearby nature reserve. Mountain rescuers carried out the recovery of the body.

Police do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances and have submitted a file to the coroner.
