Derby Mountain Rescue Team were called to Matlock Bath at around 2pm on Thursday 23rd July to help a Peak Ranger search for a dog that had fallen over the edge of the path up to High Tor. Eight-year-old Dillon, the Border Terrier, had been walking with his 'mum' when he fell. It was initially feared that he might have fallen to the bottom of the crag as he could not be seen or heard from the top. The team searched the bottom of the crag but fortunately; he was found safe and well on a small ledge around 20ft below the path. He was placed in one of the team's equipment bags as a make shift dog harness and carried back to the top, with the team using a simple rope system for safety. Dillon was reunited with his party and after a few biscuits and lots of cuddles was able to continue the rest of his walk.
